NATURE. FUN. VIEWS

JOURNAL

Iconic pony trekking in Lesotho gives you an opportunity to embrace a beautiful landscape, be in the nature and learn a bit about the local culture. One of the striking things about Lesotho is that people rely on pony / horse / donkey transport as their main was of travelling from a village to village. A six year old riding a big horse is just an everyday view. Most of the lodges can organise the trip for you so just ask at the reception. We both really enjoyed this scenic ride among locals and felt closer to the villagers. Make sure you ask for a peaceful pony though, Max jokingly asked for the fastest one – and they gave him a crazy pony that was very hard to control. My pony was calmer and easier to ride, however on the way back it got tired of the rocky path and stopped listening to me. At one point it almost threw me on the ground which was a bit scary. I take it it was my fault though, as I was afraid of pulling it too hard not to hurt it, which you can’t do anyway.
