We found Cape Canopy Tour when researching thrilling activities around Cape Town. The timing was a bit unfortunate as I lost our brand new GoPro a day before the ziplines (IMAGINE!). I was a little bit upset about it, however the good news was that at the time the guys from Cape Canopy were giving away a free copy of the video from the trip. Excellent, one problem down. On the day of the Canopy Tour we set off on our motorbike to the location just to found that the road was pretty sandy. Not to worry though, it’s signposted so you’ll find it easily. 

Once we arrived we went to register. After that, there’s a short briefing on all the equipment and how to use it. Everyone’s very friendly and the crew will make you feel very welcomed. They kitted us up with helmets, harnesses, gloves and we boarded the truck. The ride was rough and awesome at the same time! Driving through the steep hills and admiringg the mountainous scenery we knew it was going to be a thrilling day. At the top, there’s a short walk to the first zipline.

This is where the fun begins! Ok I must admit it, my first zipline didn’t go so well. I was a bit SCARED and my hand was gripping the line too hard, as a result I stopped prematurely and got stuck on the line. HOW EMBARASSING :D. One of the guys had to pull himself to me and fish me back to the station. Oh well. I learnt the hard way ‘DON’T LOVE THE GLOVE’. They’ll tell you that. You can control your speed but you can get stuck if you hold on to the line too hard. The next twelve ziplines were equally impressive in length and height and we were done before we knew it wishing for more…

There’s a short 1km hike up back to the car. When we got back to the base we could watch the video and enjoy our yummy lunch! Oh you even get a certificate of achievement 😉
